About Adventure Yoga
But how does yoga work? How is it actually going to make a difference to my body?
Yoga combines tension release and strengthening - often simultaneously! A yoga class is designed to work systematically through the whole body, reaching almost every part of your body (inside and out) which is something that makes it pretty unique.
Deep breathing co-ordinated with movement and stretching eases both physical and mental strain, leaving us physically lighter, less tense and able to face life with strength and generosity.
Yoga is also the perfect complement to sports because it’s zero impact, giving us a break from pounding or pushing while still strengthening the body. It highlights areas of weakness, (eg inner leg muscles or knee alignment) and targets muscles which are often under developed and causing injury when we push the limits.
A regular practice enhances your fitness and mental capacity in the following ways;
better all round strength, helping you avoid injury
better agility, balance and control, improving your performance in sports and general confidence
less tension in your muscles, leaving you less prone to injury and more relaxed
greater efficiency of breathing, allowing you to do more in daily life with ease and energy
greater ability to focus and remain calm under pressure
greater understanding of your own body-mind connection for lifelong happiness

Here’s what people have to say about doing yoga with me…
“I first met Jemima online during the first lockdown in 2020, when she offered online yoga classes. I would describe my yoga level as beginner to intermediate, and Jemima's teaching is great for me. So when lockdown eased enough to allow outdoor in person sessions, I was delighted to participate. I like the informal setting, exploring parts of Holyrood Park that are new to me, and enjoying a little time away from the stresses of everyday life. One highlight was watching the moon rise over Berwick Law from the top of a hill in the park, which was magical and I would not have experienced otherwise.
Practicing yoga outdoors brings a new dimension, as there is a connection to nature that you can't get otherwise. I thoroughly recommend Jemima's Wild Yoga!”

“I love Wild Yoga, and am so grateful I found Adventure yoga. Jemima finds beautiful spots around Arthur’s Seat as our outdoor yoga spaces and its such a joy to practice outdoors. Jemima creates sequences that really work outside, and especially this year it is such a treat to look at the sky, the trees, the sea and sky while doing yoga. Jemima is a great teacher, with a lovely warm approach, and brings a deep understanding of our bodies and how they work outdoors. I love it and can’t wait to be able to meet again!”
Catherine, Wild yoga participant
“I have had problems with my knee and back and went to 1-1 sessions with Jemima to get some advice on how Yoga could help me with this. She had done a lot of research and showed me poses specifically for these areas and my body structure. I have been doing Yoga every day for years now, but after these sessions I learned that there was so much more to the asanas and that by adjusting them to my specific needs I could get a lot more out of my daily practice. Since I started doing Yoga with her, my body is getting stronger and I became more aware of what I am actually doing during Yoga. Besides, Jemima is a lovely person and talking and practising with here has been great fun. I’d warmly recommend Yoga with Jemima which has been a true enrichment for my daily life!”
